Tumleap Primary school was built with the aim of expanding education opportunities for children.
The severe flooding which occurred in Thailand also affected Tumleap Primary school and village as a whole in 2011.
Farms were submerged in the flood, rice production was also devastated and many people emigrated to Thailand to work. Children of those who emigrated to Thailand to earn money were deprived of an education, and also many children of parents who went to Thailand, were left with their grandparents or relatives.
Children often need to do housework or are abused by their grandparents and are never able to go to school.
Mr. Him Sarath who is the founder of the school established to ensure children have an education and expand opportunities for their future, finally made the decision to build an orphanage.
Currently there are 19 orphans.
The impoverished children can now eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. They can also study during the day at school and also eat at the dormitory after not being able to have the chance to get a full education in their childhood. They are very enthusiastic to learn, so they study hard even after school at night to finish their homework.
It is a struggle to gather funds to run the orphanage. The monthly food cost of the children living in the orphanage is $915 since the daily food cost per one child is $1.25.
Tumleap Primary school tried collecting funds as well but it isn’t easy for them to gather sufficient funds.
Therefore, we decided to cooperate with them to help raise money.
Up until now, VPF has donated 3,000 dollars in total, including goods such as furniture.
Your help will be highly appreciated, for the children to live safely and have education.
