When I first learned about SDGs, it was from a class when I was in year 1 of middle school. The teacher briefly lectured about the importance of SDGs and the way they can help our world. At first, I wasn't interested in such things because no one around me cared about them. As time goes, now I'm at high school and I realized that it was important and necessary for us to think about it. Maybe a person or two, can't change the world much, but if millions of people gather together to work, the world can change. I believe that learning I was gripped by SDG’s goal 5, which is 'achieve all gender equality and empower all women and girls because of how hard and challenging that is. There are always differences between the two genders that cannot change.
First of all, we cannot deny the fact that we are different than men. Mostly in physical traits. At school, when we have to do a physical test, where we measure our physical strength. I asked a few boys and girls in my class about the test and the boys scored higher than the girls. In every test, whether it’s running or throwing a ball. Girls had a higher score in fitness such as how far they can stretch. These results affect some jobs, for instance, builders who build houses. Women cannot carry heavy things faster than men. They have different structures of bones, to start with. The amount of work compared to men workers is definitely going to be less. If that’s the case and the salary is the same as men's, it would be considered slacking and unfair towards men, which are working way more and harder than women.
On the other hand, political and mental wise, and as a right of a human being, I agree that women can have more opinions and power. It certainly doesn’t mean that because women are weak, men can use violence toward them. There are many historical figures and proof that can back up that women are strong. For example, the queens of England. They were powerful during the time of war, invading many countries and coming back with success. Who ruled that powerful country? A queen, a woman
I personally believe that though women cannot be equal to men in every way, there are other cases and occasions when they are able to, especially in the point of intelligence. In the future, I want to help women have more power as a leader. Even though they may lack in strength, women do not lack in intelligence as men. It’s hard work that matters. By attending many projects and workshops and activities, I hope that I can be a leader myself in the future and be one of the women who can show the world what we are capable of. I also hope that I can influence other children so that we can do it and won’t have to be afraid and frightened.
