I would like to donate the books I don't read to children in developing countries. By doing so, people who can't afford to buy books may get the opportunity to read them.
I thought of donating money instead of books, but I heard that if we donate money, we won't be able to know if it is really used for a safe purpose. For instance, it might be used to buy weapons to fight a war. When I attended another volunteer activity, a person from the Philippines said that it would be greater if people donated goods, such as food and educational tools, rather than money. She said so because there are a lot of examples where the donated money is used unreasonably. That being said, it makes more sense to send and donated books than money to those countries and NGOs.
I chose these three SDGs, "Quality education," "Reduced inequalities," and "Partnerships for the goals" for the following reasons.
First of all, books are crucial for education. It is very important that students, or even adults who are illiterate, have the opportunity to read books. The ability to read is one of the most important things while learning a new language because all other aspects, such as listening and speaking will come after that for most of the time. Also, reading books will enhance creativity and imagination, so people will more likely be much bright after a great amount of reading. That will help people to get more educated and clever.
Secondly, a lot of the least developed countries are in poverty, and there are not enough chances to get quality education. There are even war zones so some countries can't build schools in some districts. If there are not enough schools, then children may not be able to learn anything. But if one has books, there is a chance that people will be able to get knowledge from them. Also, there are times when people may get the chance of learning things by hearing stories from people around them. They can learn that language by doing so too. On the other hand, they can then only get information about local things. By giving them books from other countries, they can get global information too. That makes the information and inequalities between countries less obvious in some aspects and may help children in the future.
Finally, by showing that I am thinking about the lives and education of children in different countries, I am approaching the goals by making partners with the people in the region, people of the NGO, and even people around me who have similar ideas. That being said, by making a greater and wider relationship through the activity, we can share our ideas and dreams about the future so that not only can we help children, but we can spread our thoughts to other people from a wider variety of countries.
For these three aspects of the SDGs, the action I chose, is to "donate books that I don't read to the children in developing countries," which can help in accomplishing the goals. Not only will it help the people in developing countries, but also people in developed countries, who wants greater connection regarding their own SDGs action.

今後、今回の経験をどのように活かしていきたいですか?

これからもSDGsに対する取り組みは世界中で行われるだろう。よって、将来的に、より効率的かつ効果的な取り組みが生まれたとしても、原点に帰ることを忘れることなく、しっかりと「これは本当にSDGsに貢献するような活動なのか」という分析をしていきたいと思う。
