『What can be done to reach SDGs?』

(800~1500字でまとめていただく様式です。)

Sustainable Development Goals, as known as SDGs are one of the important representative visions and future-oriented tools to make the world a better place. SDGs consist of 17 goals for realizing a sustainable world with 169 targets, made by the UN summit in 2015. Those goals aim to achieve by 2030 and emphasize that no one should be left behind, as learned in this volunteer. However, many of these goals are remaining sadly still not fully achieved. Regarding increasing the chance of achievement of those goals, informing SDGs knowledge, willingly acting in an environmentally and socially friendly manner, and actively engaging in volunteers that facilitate the SDGs are crucial that I can implement in my life.
Before acting toward SDGs achievement, knowing about SDGs is essential in the first place to actively engage in some actions that are leading to the achievement of SDGs by 2030, therefore, spreading knowledge about SDGs that you learned using social media, during class time in schools, or through general communications with friends or family members is crucial. As learned in Chapter 1, many still do not know the specific goals of SDGs and even the existence of SDGs. Recognition of the global average is 74% and surprisingly, only 49% of the Japanese population knows about the basics of SDGs. With social media or other online platforms, we could actively educate people about issues to those who are unaware of the SDGs and those difficulties. Also, educational SDGs topics should be actively taught in more classes, and students should be encouraged to discuss them. We can discuss these topics with our family members to motivate them to act in support of the SDGs.
When pursuing the SDGs, we can voluntarily act in a way that is both socially and environmentally responsible such as saving electricity, bringing eco-bags when we go to the grocery shops, or freezing food so it can lead to the prevention of food loss. I believe most Japanese take peace for granted since Japan is a safe country and has more resources compared to other countries such as developing countries. So, I believe many people in Japan use resources as much as they want without thinking about the world around us and about the environment. Therefore, saving resources such as electricity or not wasting food is a crucial step to achieving SDGs, though they are small things that we can implement into our lives easier. At the same time, appreciating the fact that we do not suffer from heavy scarcity as we use resources is also important to realize that we are blessed so we can commit to action that leads to the achievement of SDGs.
We can actively engage in volunteer work so that the poverty rate would decline which also leads to the achievement of other goals. For instance, we can teach children who live in developing countries online or directly through volunteer groups. If children are well-educated, they can work in the future and earn money which leads to preventing hunger and promoting healthy lives which applies to goals 1 2, and 3, they can contribute to promoting sustained economic growth of their country which applies to Goal 8, it can improve their quality of life which applies to goal 7, and more. Sadly, the educational gap has widened since the COVID outbreak. By offering online instruction, we can close the educational gap that the epidemic caused to address that problem.
In conclusion, the most important things I can do in my life to increase the likelihood of achieving those goals are to educate myself about the SDGs, voluntarily act in a socially and ecologically responsible manner, and actively volunteer for causes that support the SDGs. Since SDGs are universal and require action by all countries and all people regardless of religion and ethnicity, we all should know about the SDGs and act. Regarding acting toward the achievement of SDGs, we all should consider all goals, not just one or two goals since SDGs require cooperative efforts and they are indivisible.
