『Our action makes our future 』
It is nine years after the concept of SDGs was created. The chance of hearing the word “SDGs” has been increasing. I know about this thanks to the chance to think about SDGs in school class, and it is picked up by the Media, such as TV and the Internet. This time, I especially think about one of the 17 goals of the SDGs.
I focused on the second goal, which is “Zero Hunger”. I have two reasons for that. First, I have a chance to talk with international student in the program which is held by the school. Some of the international students came to Japan from developing countries in Africa, such as “Cameroon “and “Malawi”. A person from Cameroon said, “Many people in Cameroon still have been facing on suffering a lack of grocery. I have a similar experience when I was child. I had been always hungry because I didn’t have enough food then. In addition, in the poor country, infrastructure isn’t organized. Because of this, It is difficult to deliver some crops made in the suburbs to poor people.” And he said “I’m studying now to become the president of Cameroon and make Cameroon like Japan.” Japan is classified as a developed country in the world, so I don’t see people who learn for the country. Instead, I realized that the people who learn to make their future delightful. Second, I have often seen people sitting on the ground and wearing blankets when I went a town with many people, while many of us spend their time comfortably, I learned that some people are still suffering. For these two reasons, I decided to think about hunger. The area that is hard to grow crops because of bad climate cannot be helped. Even in such areas, it is important to improve the infrastructure in order to get enough grocery by developing the industry which is suitable for these countries. If these countries grow economically, the communication will be smooth both in domestic and foreign. You can also communicate important information. As a result, I think it will lead to importing grocery and spreading it. In 2019, Japan has a huge amount of food loss of 5.7 million tons. If the infrastructure in a country which is suffering from food shortages was prepared, it would be possible to deliver food that may lead to food loss to people suffering from hunger before passing the expiration date. In order to reduce food loss, you should keep in mind to buy enough to eat before the expiration date . By doing so, I believe that the system will be realized that uneaten and thrown-away food is delivered to people suffering from hunger. The key is an Infrastructure development and our efforts.
From these, I think that the problem of hunger, which is the second goal of the SDGs, is related to the theme of infrastructure development, which is the ninth goal, “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.” I suggest that many people act as soon as possible if our action leads to the reduction of the number of people who suffer from hunger.
