　　Global warming is progressing rapidly in the world now. As a result, it is said that the temperature will rise by 3 degrees Celsius during this century. To prevent global warming, it is important to reduce greenhouse gases. One of the causes of the increase in greenhouse gases is the production of plastics and incineration after use. So I would like to use my bag or a store that has switched to paper straws to refrain from using plastic.
Global warming is causing various problems in the world. For example, abnormal weather may occur, land area may decrease due to sea level rise, infectious diseases may increase, or organisms may disappear. More and more people are suffering from food shortages and hunger due to these problems.
The cause of global warming is greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon dioxide has the highest emission rate of anthropogenic greenhouse gases at 76%. Japan is the fifth highest emission country in the world, accounting for 3.2% of the total. Carbon dioxide is emitted into the air when burning fossil fuels and plastics.
　　 The raw material for plastics is petroleum, and when they are burned, carbon dioxide is generated. Carbon dioxide emissions from plastics are on the rise at 86 billion tonnes in 2019 and are projected to reach 280 billion tonnes by 2050. And it is said that carbon dioxide is emitted in three processes related to plastics. The first is the excavation and transportation of oil. As of 2015, 108 million tons of carbon dioxide were emitted due to methane leaks in the process of excavating oil, fuel combustion, and energy consumption. The second is refining and production. Further heat is applied to naphtha refined from petroleum to make ethylene propylene, which is the raw material for plastics, and then polyethylene, and energy is required for all processing to change it into the required shape. It is said to emit 180 to 213 million carbon dioxide. The third is disposal. Ultimately, plastics can be recycled, landfilled, or burned. Each requires energy, and especially when it is burned, a large amount of carbon dioxide is generated.
　　 I think that using too much plastic will greatly promote global warming. So I wanted to avoid using plastic as much as possible. To that end, there are five things I would like to do from now on. The first is to carry my bag with you. I will try not to get a shopping bag when I go shopping. The second is to carry my bottle with you. As a result, the amount of plastic such as PET bottles used can be reduced. The third is to carry your chopsticks and avoid using plastic spoons and forks. Fourth is to reduce the use of plastic straws. I would like to use a store that recommends paper straws. Fifth is to reduce the use of plastic bags that divide food into small pieces at supermarkets. I think that if each person has this awareness, the situation in the world can be greatly changed.
