『What we can do to make the SDGs goals achievable』
There are many actions we can take to achieve the goals of the SDGs.
First, we need to make an effort to change our lives.
For example, we should go out by bicycle or transportation instead of car.
This is because the amount of carbon dioxide emitted from automobiles continues to increase, and various environmental problems, such as global warming and air pollution, are becoming more serious.
To prevent these environmental problems, we should travel by bicycle, transportation or on foot instead of by car.
Second, enough food is produced to feed everyone in the world.
However, the reality is that one-third of the supposedly sufficient food supply is food loss.
In developed countries, much food is thrown away at the consumption stage, such as leftovers due to overcooking and expiration dates.
In developing countries, on the other hand, food loss occurs from the harvest stage. Poor sanitation and inadequate storage facilities lead to pest and mold infestation and crop damage.
In addition, economically poor farmers have no access to manpower or machinery, so they have no choice but to let their crops rot if they are not harvested in time.
Along with chronic poverty, conflict, and economic crisis, food loss is the root of all the ills of hunger. Furthermore, food loss is also the loss of water and resources used during production.
So, we need to eliminate leftovers altogether.
Third, we should try to attend events held by aid organizations to find out what support is actually being given to the problem of poverty in developing countries.
And we should actually go to developing countries and participate in study tours to experience firsthand the situation on the aid frontlines. By doing so, they are designed to allow us to visit their activities efficiently within a limited time, so you can obtain much more information than you could on your own because many organizations that support developing countries organize study tours. Also, we should donate to developing countries. Donations and fundraising are a very effective way to directly support such programs. We don't have to donate a lot of money, just a small amount, such as 10 yen per day. That alone may save as many lives as possible. We can also donate things we don't want but can still be used, such as clothes we have stopped wearing.
Fourth, water shortages and water sanitation problems are becoming more serious, especially in developing countries.
The water-saving technique that is both a simple SDG initiative and a way to save on water bills at home is to turn off the tap frequently. For example, when taking a bath, it is not good to take a shower for a long time. Try not to leave the shower on while washing your body and turn off the tap frequently.
And wipe up oil without pouring it down the sink. It takes a substantial amount of water to clean off the grease.
In this way, it is important to learn about the SDGs and to try to put what we have learned into action.
