I am going to write about difference between Japan and Cambodia.
I choose No.2 “zero hunger”, No.4 “quality education”, No.16 “peace justice and strong institutions”.
First, No.2 “zero hunger”. In Cambodia, more than 30% of children under the age of 5 are chronically malnourished, and estimated 60,000 to 90,000 children require nutritional treatment each year. So, children who are in Cambodia suffer from malnutrition. However, In Japan, there are a lot of things to eat so, food loss is the social issues.
What I can do for it is to reduce food loss, donation, to buy fair trade production.
By purchasing fair trade productions, we can give producers a fair share of profits.
Second, No.4 “quality education”. In Cambodia there are children who don’t have much money to buy school things such as uniforms, shoes, bags etc. Also, there are children who can’t get education because they have to work to get income for their family. Even though 95% of children can enter the elementary school , the rate of advancement from elementary school to junior high school is about 40%, and only 20% of children go from junior high school to high school. Only a few percent of students go on to university. However, In Japan everyone can get compulsory education for 9 years. And also elementary school and junior high school’s textbooks are provided by the countries tax in public schools. So, what we can do to solve this problem is to donate money and book etc.
Last is No.16 “peace justice and strong institutions”. Cambodia had 359 human trafficking cases in 2021, which was more than double the previous year in 2020. And also 73% of Cambodian students have experienced bullying at least once.
Consequently, almost all Cambodian children can’t get enough education.
As for situation in Japan, 42.5% of Japanese people have experienced domestic violence.
And, the number of child abuse cases in 2020 increased by more than 20.5 times compared to 20 years ago. So, the cases of child abuse is increasing in Japan now.
There is very little we can do and it is difficult. But I think it is important for us to know more information such human trafficking and violence. And we tell the information to others.
By doing so, many people can know about it and the number of people who are interested in it will increase and I think more people will contribute to this problem.
Japan and Cambodia have many differences but I think it is important for people who live in developed countries to support countries like Cambodia.
