『What we can do to achieve the SDGs』
In Japan, the effects of the global epidemic of the new coronavirus have caused problems such as the collapse of medical care, the expansion of the poor, and the economic downturn, which are contrary to the goals of the SDGs.
Therefore, I would like to consider what we can do to achieve the SDGs goals.
First of all, in order to suppress the spread of coronavirus infection, it is important to cooperate in reducing the number of infected people by reducing the chances of prevention and contact with people. If the virus can be resolved, we can return to our daily lives and actively work toward the goals of the SDGs. However, this does not mean that nothing can be done, and it is important to act to be independent even when the corona infection is spreading. At first, I was interested in medical volunteers in developing countries, but due to the cancellation of the tour by Corona, I joined Cambodia's online volunteers. I could feel my own growth in autonomy, responsibility, leadership, cuddling and embracing diversity. By all means, if Corona calms down, I would like to go to Cambodia and do volunteer activities there.
Next, since it is reported that the management of the restaurant industry is difficult, I would like to use takeout if possible to cooperate with the economy. In addition, I think it is important to eat meals that incorporate local production for local consumption, support local agriculture, and reduce leftover food. Food loss is not just a “mottainai” thing, it is also a cause of other problems, one of which is environmental problems.
For example, fuel is used for production, disposal, and transportation to emit carbon dioxide, wasting the environmental resources used to make inedible food.
Faced with food loss is also a way to solve the hunger problem.
In France and Italy, legislation to eliminate food loss has been enacted, which has reduced a considerable amount of food loss and led to donations to charitable organizations.
Similarly, a mechanism to reduce food loss and pass it on to people who are short of food may solve the hunger problem. At home, it is important to be aware of the three points of "do not buy too much", "do not make too much", and "eat".
Of the food loss that occurs in Japan, 45% occur at home, and the causes are thought to be "overbought," "overproduced," and "leftover food."
Therefore, the following efforts are effective at home.
・ Check the refrigerator once before going shopping (do not buy too much)
・ Even if you cook and make too much, store it frozen and consume it the next day (do not make too much)
・ Before opening at a banquet, return to your seat and set a "eat" time (eat)
Such efforts can be done by each individual. Small stacks lead to significant reductions in food loss.
Finally, in order to realize a world where no one in the world is left behind, it is important to carry out activities to make the SDGs widely known. The activity I want to do is to participate in speech contests, actively announce SDGs, post activities to tweeters, and so on. I would like to do what I can do now and cooperate to achieve the SGDs as much as possible.
